What alumni remember

I remember my favorite teacher Mrs. Davilia She was my biology and chemistry teacher. I remember the first test I took. I got a 69 on and I cried. I went to her after class and asked her what I could do to improve my grades and she gave me some of the best advice. She said basically when she was in college, she would rewrite her notes until she remembered what she wrote and I still do that to this day! I never fail another test thanks Mrs. Davilia!

I remember the hard grueling days in the hot August sun. We would do run after run of our marching band shows. Sweat dripping, pain in our legs and arms, music blasting out of our instruments. One synchronized act of Stallion pride. Every generation of Southwest High School Marching Stallions went through the same process year after year. The sweat of every class went into the dirt in that field. We played into the trees where many of the cross country track runners were and our loud sound carried all the way to the middle school less than a mile away. We sharpened each other. We did pushups together everytime we flubbed a note or missed a step off. We became a little bit stronger. Then came the big Friday night football games. We played so loud and proud for the boys every week and synchronized with the cheerleaders. Even if we were losing, we played even louder to boost the morale of the players. We would go home tired in victory or defeat, get about 6-8 hours of sleep, wake up on Saturday mornings in October, and toured high schools across ENC and the Piedmont. We learned strength and perseverance that lasts for a lifetime. Happy 50th Stallions!
